Simple Sensory Bliss

Looking for a fun, inexpensive way to spend an hour or so out in the beautiful fall weather?  Fill a plastic tub or pan with a bag full of flour, add in some scoops, and watch out for the dust to clear.

I can remember loving the feel of flour back when I was a child, helping my Mom bake apple pies.  It is so soft, like kitten fur.  There is something soothing and amazing about the feel and texture of flour between your fingers at the same time.

Be sure to add in a variety of scooping mechanisms, like spoons, measuring cups, or ladles.  Plastic shovels and sieves can work too. You can also let them add water later on to experiment with how the flour changes, or hide miniature items in the flour for a search-and-find.  Oh, and I suggest completing this activity outdoors, unless you don't mind vacuuming up the mess.  While most of the flour will dust off clothing, a smock or play clothes will let them play with abandon.
